In 1941, Polish professors from Lviv were killed by Nazis. Forty renowned academics, doctors, a writer and even a former Polish Prime Minister, lost their lives. Almost 70 years after the tragical moments, a contest for the monument of murdered professors was held. It will be raised in Lviv, but Wrocław, as a partner city, participates in the project as well. Wulkeckie Heights in Lviv nowadays

“The Last Whale” is the title of a fantasy short story wrtitten by young writer Marta Śmigielska. It will soon have its premiere in “Nowa Fantastyka”,  a cult magazine for fantasy, science-fiction and cyber-punk fans. Marta has won the third prize in this magazine’s contest, in which over 500 young writers took part. In Mixed Zone, she talks about her short story and writing itself. By Przemek Pozowski

In Poland he is best known for his books. He even got Wrocław’s Book Award “Angelus” in 2006. But the Ukrainian writer – Yuri Andruchovych is also a musician. Along with the band Karbido he recorded the longplay named “Samogon”. Now they are starting the series of concerts promoting their new project – “Cinnamon”, a mixture of poetry and music. The exibition “Europe – It’s Our History” in Cenntenial Hall is dedicated to the post-war history of Europe. It shows the complicated process from the end of World War II until the present day European unity, telling people about themselves with simplicity and empathy.
